Amazing that in a country as crowded as Holland and with so many speedsailors they have only just discovered this spot. How many untapped strips do we have in Australia?

Looks great except for the colour of the water, but once you checked out the depth, and cranked out some speeds, you wouldn't care seeing 40 on the dial!!

Now that looks like a real speed strip!!

Hmmmm.... not much on the horizon in the background downwind. Wonder where you end up if you break something?

Seems everyone in the speedsailing community is drooling about this place , even the Frenchies ( and Dutchies who post there) on their forums...

My french translation... apologies to those who actually did learn french at school rather than backpacking through europe... :-))

"I know very well most of the guys who were there. And I know also their level.

Strand Horst ( my home spot) is very fast.
But this spot, this is easily 5km/h faster.

Look at the individual results. Those who were there the first time, they pulverised ALL their PRs.

For example, Barry (home spot also Strand Horst). I think he had improved his PR by at least 3-4 km/h. Normally the improvement are of the order of 0.3 km/h..."

Hmm.. not sure about the validity of the last sentence as someone who increased his PR by 1.3 knots at the same spot. But there is no doubting his enthusiasm for their new discovery.

Yo

Yo

If you mean me by that "someone", yes that was a special session but special circumstances.
Conditions were the best of all my 2007 sessions. Not only flat water due to healthy weed growth. But more importantly the wind was very very constant, which is not too often. Loooong looooong gusts.

Most important - different fin than before.
My performance was helped in no small bit because I sailed a fin that has gone through the hands of a certain person who's first name is Caspar.

BTW: compliments for your brave effort to translate my bad french into english. Dutch -> French -> English... wonder what happens if the string continues with another few languages - probably becomes something like babelfish ;)

I think the water is around 300mm deep so you just walk back to the shore.
