...what exactly is GPS sailing, how's it work and who are you competing against? I figure you're all trying to blast and make a top speed over a ccertain distance, but what constitutes a registered/official run? Where/How do you officially log your speed? Over what distance? Is there a wind speed to knts measurement? How and where do you upload your data?
Speed results are recorded with a small GPS loggerworn on the body, usually the upper arm, and loaded into a computer to analyse after the session.
The results are aproved by the offical bodies, GPS teamchallenge, GPS-Speedsurfing and WGPSSRC (World GPS speed surfing record committee)
The GPS Teams Challenge is primarily about building up links and a community between windsurfers in what can be a solidary recreation where at best you may only know the first name and the car they drive of people enjoying the same pastime as yourself. The Challenge has been a great success at this. If you want to get to know other windsurfers around and you are into flat water windsurfing you should join a team in the Challenge.
