Well....... Do we?

If so, WA only or an Australian event?

What is the interest who would enter??

I think if there is interest, we should involve WWA!!!!!!!!

What about a bigger deal, like approaching the City of Mandurah and having a Windsurfing Festival?

Pick some dates, amke it an annual event, free lessons, equipment expo, racing, demo's, c'mooorrrn lets get creative here.....

Or I'll just go back to selfishly enjoying my own little windsurfing life[}:)]

The Festival is a fantastic idea.

Perhaps, and I cant remember when its normally held, it could be linked to the Mandurah Crab Festival.
That would provide an enormous amount of people the opportunity to see it, coz they would be down there for the crab munchin anyway.

Freestyle
The Freestyle could have a bit of a fun on the western side of the main boat ramp channel, nice flat water for them good area for spectators to watch from.

Hare and Hound
A hare and hound event out in the middle would keep a lot of people going for a while.

Chanel marker course
On a good consistant wind day,
launch main boat ramp, head to green channel marker, up wind a bit to the big platform, turn around that head back to the green marker gybe around that head east again down wind to the red channel marker near the island gybe around the marker and head back to the boat ramp, nice round trip of I think 10-15km, as long as people don't laugh to much at me when I fluff my gybes. Could also set it up as a handicap event.

Speed trap
Set up a radar gun in a boat on the coarse.

Supercross
For the mad feckers in the world who love doing Twistyspinny whilst barreling along, good for the spectators.

I agree with Elmo.
My 2 cents is that for the sake of a FESTIVAL - which is basically designed to raise interest in the sport - you need to keep as many of the activities as possible as close to the shore as you can possibly get them.
This may be to the detriment of the participants, in that they wont necessarily post their fastest times etc. but you have the rest of the year to have "serious" competitions.
The idea for this day, or weekend, is to RAISE the profile.

Also
(without actually having asked the editor yet)
I'm sure I could convince the local paper(s) to get involved with promoting the thing - especially if it was teamed up with the standard crab fest.

Thinking out of the box how do we get the spectators close too the action?
Maybe some promotional flat bottom's or somebody down there (not that they need to promote that much )
Maybe local yacht club with a "raft up" close to the action that is out in deeper water by the power boats, maybe?

What about biggest crash? Elmo and i could do a few demos for the fans!!

I think Novara would be perfect as all these events could be held close enough to shore to keep the spectators interested.

Do not get to big to quick, I recon a low key NM event (open to all of course ) with a few other fun events as back up if wind fails us (as if).BBQ ,social kinda thing.See where it goes from there.

Isn't supercross when you run into a weed bank at full tilt and bury yourself in poisonousness angry spiny fish and itchy weed.
Biggest weed hall would win, now I could win that one.

I would be a starter, Dec-Jan are there any festivals?

I would also be giving Bender and Elmo a run on the biggest non intentional crash, just give me a nautical mile down there and I'll do it.

My idea is to have an NM event between Dec 27 and Jan 5/6/7 just before the L2L, and maybe incorporate it into a Madurah Windsurfing festival as one of many events!!

Gonna make contact with mandurah City Council and see what they think/say?
