Will my low speeds (mainly due to lack of skill and only having one sail atm) penalise my other team members? I have posted a couple of runs now but only when my numbers have been up a little. I am concerned that if I post numbers when the wind has been a little low and my speeds are down, that it will affect my team mates and our overall scores.
Do the 'distance travelled' figures come in to play even if speeds are low?
I think it's worth posting anyway, I know I do. I'm the slowest on my team, so I try to make up for it with distance. I think all six categories are ranked equal, so a distance score is worth as much as a 2sec peak. It's just that there are 3 flat out speed categories, one technical one (alpha 500), one endurance one, and a mix of speed and endurance (1 nautical mile)
As Decrepit said, there is no penalty ever for posting.
Either your score is one of the top two, so it counts, or it's not in which case it doesn't go towards the team's score.
This was set up so that there is never any question -- it's always better to post than to withhold your numbers.
As time marches on it's becoming clear that some people are treating the challenge site as a sort of 'windsurfing blog', which is perfectly fine by me! If you treat it the same way then I think that it can become a valuable tool to track your progress.
Bloody Hell Pat!
You only started a couple of months ago... Your already posting on the team challenge site and at this rate of improvement you'll be doing 40 knots in no time ( i'd like to see you on the GO doing 40!) and you got to remember that you need two results to post ANY score so If one of our team mates does a balltearer of a day and now one else posts his score counts for nothing! So post everything...
