I just uploaded the latest firmware and was wondering if anybody has been using the Data Logger. It says it is the internal memory and now logs 7.5 hours and automatically overwrites the oldest data.
Would you download the data stored in the Data Logger the same way as before with the Navilink?
I did a few test runs and got nice recordings on the internal memory. Now I am not sure that is the new "Data Logger" or the "Track" setting recording.
I cleared the Data Logger and checked if there was anything on the internal memory and all files were still there, they only disappeared when going into TRACK and clearing there.
Any suggestions? Maybe Tom could shed some light on this.
thanks
nat
That's interesting Nat, I'm using data logger and can no longer use navilink, it doesn't find any data. I have to save the data logger to memory card and read off that.
It's all very mysterious!!!!!
I haven't checked how long it records for yet.
Hi decrepit
So when you want to download the info in the Data Logger you go to Data Logger, Save to card and then read the card as usual?
I though having the Data Logger means you don't need a card anymore - or as Tom says "allows Navi GT11 to be used without SD card"
In Track I have been setting the interval to 1s, if I don't do that the Navilink doesn't have any information. I wonder weather I am recording both? On the Navi Link and Data Logger and just haven't been retrieving the info from the Data Logger??
Might see if we can email Tom.
Nat
G'Day Nat.
Think mine may have a bug, happened when I installed the latest software. I then reinstalled the earlier version but navilink still didn't work.

Hi
If you go to "TRACK" on your GT11 and then click the joystick 2x it comes up with Mark, Interval, clear.
Click on Interval set to 1 second - that seems to make it record onto the internal memory.
Nat
Thanks nat, it was set to "stop". I see there's also a "compact" setting.
I'll have a play with it later and see if I can sort out what's going on.
I have a feeling if the internal memory is getting data from 2 sources, that will mean less time able to be stored.
It would be good to have an up to date manual on exactly how the latest firmware works.

Finally ot round to having a play, went for a short walk along the beach.
Got these results.
memory card .sbn file = 66kb
datalogger .sbp file saved to memory card = 4kb
navilink data total = 47kb
consisting of, --
.PLT = 9kb
.PLT.gpx = 14kb
.PLT.kml = 5kb
.PLT.NMEA = 15kb
.WPT = 1kb
.WPT.gpx = 1kb
.WPT.kml = 2kb
So I had 4 files (.sbn, .sbp, .PLT.gpx & .PLT.NMEA) that loaded into realspeed and gave the same results.
Seems like the data logger is a separate file, don't seem to be to access it from navilink. It's obviously a much smaller file, so will give much longer recording, (more than 10X longer than the navilink stuff).
Even thou it needs a card to access it, it's still a good back up. Cause even if your stuffs up, that data stays there till you put a good card in. And a small team, husband & wife etc could share one card.
Think that's why the default for the latest firmware is to turn >track>>interval to "stop".
So for my coming trip to Gero, I'll, put it back there, and see if I can fill the datalogger.
Hi decrepit
I did a similar thing and found that I recorded my walk on the navilink and on the SD card as normal and when I saved the data logger to SD I got it all again.
Same data 3x - good back up i guess if all goes wrong. I do feel the new firmware works better and records more accurately.
When are you heading to Gero?
We are off to Gnaraloo after the school holidays, can't wait.

We're heading up Monday, no idea when we come back, it'll depend on conditions, so pop inti Corro on the way up we may be there to say hello.
Good luck at Gnaraloo!!!
Turns out the datalogger held my entire Coro sessions, and gives the same results as the SD card data. ---
Corro trip Data Logger.

Looks like the times are Greenwich mean time, thought I had that on local time.

And do you need to delete/clear data logger memory and if so, how often?
