Just a quick heads up. Another watch is out for gps speed sailing, approved by gp3s.com. Gp3s.com helped write the software. It's not cheap but looks good, could be used for other stuff too. I am no gps expert so I don't know about all the tech stuff. I think there are two Coros watches available, the apex pro and the
shop.gps-speedsurfing.com/coros-apex-pro and vertex.
Interesting, if it's Doppler and has an error file then it's a winner. Not sure about the touch screen as it caused a few issues in the GW 60
It is based on the same chip as some Garmin, Suunto, Polar and Amazfit so if this one becomes compliant, watch wearers can have hope.
High accuracy algorithm is similar to Garmin UltraTrac or Suunto FusedTrack and means GNSS drops are filled by the accelerometer.
I am not aware of any Garmin watch that uses Doppler data or provides an SDOP error estimate. So I will be surprised if other manufactures using the same chip can produce this information. Sure clever software with input from accelerometers can improve the tracks but this is not a substitute for Doppler data and SDOP files.
I would be happy to be proved wrong
Just smoothed trackpoints like the SUUNTO by the looks of it.
Looks like a marketing snow job to me.
Nothing to see here........
