Which camp or caravan site is that? I'm planning on going but have not book accomodation as I'm waiting for my leave application to be approved. Is the place where you are camping on the river so you can sail from there?

There is 2 camping grounds at Burrum one is a bit older & up the river more also off the river a bit, we are staying at

this caravan & camping site is the closest to where the event is its about a 5min walk from where the briefing is held at the Burrun Sands holiday units. There is sites right on the river but all the grey nomads get there & its usualy full so we get up the back on our own as we can get noisey especially if Hamma shows up Ha Ha.
Anyway just call the ph number for more info. Glynn

Thanks Glynn.

I hope to get up there for a bit of a break. So where you camp you can leave your sails rigged and take them down to the river?

Yes I have once launched in a northerly from there but its very gusty as the other side of the river has tree's your better off rigging closer to the river mouth in Torbanlea St have a look on Google Earth this is 2 houses from the Burrum Sands for sign on also most of the other windsurfers like Choco, Firie Bob & Vando the Man rent a house there. From this spot its still about a 300mt walk to the water with your gear at low tide & in a sse or ese you need to walk out more to get to clean wind to sail off. The tide can also effect lauching so you need to be out of the river untill you get good clean wind the best spot we have found to be is right out the end of the sand bar this is like 4ks out along the sand bar at low tide as most of the times the wind turns ese we have had sse winds which allow us to sail right up & down the bank this is when we done some good 35 to 36kt NM & 40kt + 2 sec peaks.
