Just a heads up for Sydney speedsters. Tomorrow looks like at the moment being a fairly good southerly in the afternoon and for those interested it is on a run out tide down at Sandringham so the speed strip should be working ok.
I'm certainly hoping to get down there so I hope to maybe catch some others there too. Would be good to post some speeds for February and try and lift the Cockroaches up the board a little! Surely one other person from the team will be able to sail tomorrow.....

HI Rexy,

Am racing up the coast at Hawks tomorrow but will have the GPS on if we get out there. Hopefully the wind hits early enough to do a bit of slalom instead of just Formula.

Good luck,

Sam.

Did anyone get out today? (Sunday)

Not the best for speed, but great for distance. 97km today - this beer sure is helping.

I had a run down at Sandringham in the afternoon. Probably should have sailed up at The Grand Parade as it looked windier there when I drove past. Even so was still good to get out and get planing. I certainly prefer the grassed rigging area, abundant parking, uncrowded water and shorter walk to the waters edge down there. I better not spruik it up too much though for fear of more people sailing there.
I had a quick run yesterday also and before I went out I was watching some Moth dinghy racing. These were the ones with hydrofoils on them. I have to say I was super impressed with the speed those things generate when they are up on their foils. When they get going it is literally like someone fires up a jet engine and they accelerate at an amazing rate of knots. The thing that didn't impress me though was when they came in to gybe they ALL capsized as they couldn't carry the speed through the turn. They were so twitchy to any turning that they were uncontrollable and all the sailors could do was basically tip the boat over to stop, re right themselves and take off in the opposite direction. Fun to watch but I'll take my windsurfing over them anyday

Had a pretty OK sail at Narrabeen Sunday arvo. Fairly light and gusty but had some good runs. Water was very fresh and a lot cooler than normal.
Was on a 7.8 RS Racing and got a couple of 27 knot runs.
Just nice to be outside without it p*****g down and the sun was out.
Bring on Hawks Nest next weekend
