I'm trying to resolve this bizarre problem of my .gpx files being corrupted. Every .gpx file I open up has two speeds added in my virtual speed stats, a 110 knot run and 53 knot run. All the other data appears to be accurate.
This problem started to occur recently. At first I thought that the GPS had corrupted the data. However when I opened old files the same problem occurred. I loaded new copies of the GPS AR, even the pro version, but still the same result. I can only suspect that my PC is somehow corrupting the files, but in this bizarre way.
All suggestions welcome. ![]()

Any one believe in gremlins????
You know those naughty mischievous little demons, who just love to annoy us humans by creating impossible faults, and doing annoying pranks.
Think we may have one here.
I think Gpsar creates a hidden file somewhere that it keeps your settings in, (when you install an updated version it has the speed divisions ticked from the earlier version).
To do a thorough test think you need to delete this file before installing a new version.
But don't ask me how. I don't think windows will do an uninstall, but that may do it if it will.
Do you
Use the "Tracks Tool Box" button RHS of page
Then Filter trackpoints
?
also
just check your track points table, sometimes you can get old data / locations in the file
Hi Des,
I'm not familiar with Garmin GPSes and the applications used to convert the data to information. However I've got a bit of time free so is it possible to email to files and for me to download the application used to convert the data? That way we can eliminate or establish your computer as the culprit.
My laptop has Real Speed which reads .gpx files.
