I would like to put out a Huge Thanks for Hards and Nebs for coming up with and running with their concept of the GPS TEAMS CHALLENGE.

I admit, at first I was very skeptical and though it would end up being a over competitive circus, I must say I couldn't have been more totally wrong.

The whole competition has ended up being a fantastic excuse for social sailing albeit with a purpose.

The skills improvements on all levels we've seen over the last 6 months has been nothing short of amazing.

The social days have been truly awesome events which have turned out great days (even when the wind didn't turn up) where everybody has a ball, and only 1 person needed to crack a PB and everyone got more excited, it didn't matter if they were the fastest person out there or not, everyone cheered and congratulated.

A Big Thanks to everybody in the competition, you have made it what it is...Great Fun

Bring on round 2

Great job Neb's and Hardie. It was fun. I Look forward to the 2008 season and Team SEQ will go to Burrum this year and crack some good times.

Also don't forget the sailors who took the big hits for the team cause....Haggar.
Hope to see you next round Mate.

Elmo, you've said it all mate, and very well, can't think of anything else to add. Except I also started out as a sceptic, for a different narrow minded wave sailor reason. Didn't take me very long to get completely hooked by the whole beautiful thing!

Elmo, yep you called it in one.
Still come home after each session with a grin, and check to see how each person is doing.
Just amazing on how the PB's just keep coming from across the whole group.
If there has been one thing to drive this sport, this has too be it
Have met some great people via this comp, who I wouldn't have if it hadn't been initiated by the inaugural members Australia wide, which in its self is nothing short of spectacular.
Thanks to those who helped me improve along the way with tips and tuition. It has been bloody fantastic
(must be doing something right, I don't trash as much gear as I once did)

Cheers for the happy thoughts guys

It's been fun, and I couldn't believe it when I came over to WA, as soon as I told people that I was the GPS Challenge web guy they treated me like a hero or something!
Also got two jobs out of it, as well as enjoying posting my own data so it's a win win situation for everyone.

And there's more to come

am truly amazed how you guys down under figured somethin' out like this...just looking at the site gps speedsurfing doesn't have as much zip and just looks like a bunch of numbers obviously to crack 50 but yours is much colorful and easy to figure out who's doing what and with everyone in this whole wide world who happingly has the highest or sadly has the lowest wind per sq. mile count, everyone still enjoys..greatly organized and hopingly it goes int'l. in the future..it be great to see Team Balkans against Team Algiers
and the "winners of the long distance challenge goes to the least known Team Somalia!!" just a thought

Think all of us are as well!!!
Hardy made the suggestion and it just seemed to take off.
Hardy made sure every body had a say then I guess we all felt a part of it.
Neb's brilliance created the website, think that is a big factor.
And of course this forum, couldn't have happened without it, it's what connected us all together.
None of us realised how powerful it can be, well I certainly didn't anyway.

That may be a problem with the international idea, the connections aren't necessarily there.

All real names are given on the challenge website
gpsteamchallenge.com.au/index.php

But I'm still decrepit.
