I've been sailing with my GT-31 for a couple of months now and I've already wrecked one watertight bag (the iPod bag variant). I'm not in the process of looking into getting a 'proper' bag that'll hold the unit dry AND let me 'turn' the bag around my upper arm to view the display.

So, what bags are y'all using, brand, model?

Thanks y'all! :)

paqua midi still going strong after a year. www.paqua.com.au/paqua_range.htm
Used to use aquapac but they split along the seam

Put your GPS in the bag upside down, makes reading easier

Another vote for the Paqua Midi. Keeps my Foretrex nice and dry. One thing I did was put a big safety pin in to hold the strap together because i was worried about the velcro letting go and the whole thing disappearing.

Not sure where you are located (Denmark?) but I bought mine online from Whitworths Marine - www.whitworths.com.au/

Cheers

After putting a hole in my $80 aquapac, subsequently fixed with a special glue only to have that patch ripped off when I did a backward flip when a harness line snapped on a speed run I purchased a KATO specia for $40. Much easier to read through perspex for old people with blurry vision like me and Kato guarantees that I will go 2 kts faster

I've also got one of Kato's watermounts.
They are solid...and are shaped perfectly for the Gt31....
Like Old Salty, I have tried to claim my extra 2 knots that Kato guarantees with every unit but I suspect it might be nothing more than a marketing ploy! (Never trust a man in a black visor!)

Kato, have you got a picture of one of your mounts in action for Malloy to take a look at???

I use the Paqua too but I don't like it much. Its big and klugy. I'd like something just big enough for the gps so I could fix it to my harness hook.

So Paqua medi and Katos (sounds like a sleasy divebar!) are both good alternatives.

Anyone have any good experiences with Aquapacks?

Also, currently I'm running one GT-31 unit but I've promised myself that if I hit 40 knots I'll go get myself a second GT-31, what containers on the market will hold both?

Thanks y'all for your answers so far, keep em coming! :)

I use the Paqua mobile when I carry a mobile phone and GT31. Would easily fit two GT31's in.

Idon't think you're using the "midi" That's what I have, and it's a very neat fit for only one.
I think it's the "paqua mobile" that fits 2.

I prefer the paqua midi to an aquapac, the aquapac is too big and clumsy and is also tight against the joystick.

An alternative is the H20TEK, made by JP747 on this forum, just PM him, for price and postage.
It's not quite as watertight as the others, will get a tad damp after a lot of long submersions.

Again thanks y'all for your input, much appreciated!

The Paqua looks interesting for sure, I'll have to figure out how much shipping would be to Europe.

Also Kato, your unit looks completely idiot-proof (a trait that I myself cherish!) but are you actually producing the units, and if you are at what cost? If costs are reasonable I might also convince some of my buddies (I've convinced 5 of them to get GT-31's so far) that they need to get a good case too.

Again thanks y'all, keep it coming! :)

paqua midi is good, although mine has come apart a bit inside on the plastic sleeve that holds one of the opening clips in place, but still robust and water tight

hehe, I'll ask my buddies if you're interested!

How much fuss is there getting you the info, I know most of these guys, and they're REALLY lazy when it comes to stuff like this?

You need to contact Nebbian, either PM him from this site, or go to the "contact" button on the GTC site.
www.gpsteamchallenge.com.au/index.php?country=0

I think he just needs a few details about the team members, and how you want to organise your country.
If you're first in, you get to say.

If you look at the other countries already participating, you'll see they are divided up differently.
ie Croatia is North South and West.
Japan is East and West.
New Zealand is North Island and South Island.
And of course Australia is divided up by it's states.

Guess you don't have to have internal divisions, but having them allows internal competition as well as international.

It's also a great way of keeping track of your PBs, individual ranking, (in the comp by age and gender) and sessions.
