Hey!

I finally got to try out my new 23cm KA fin on my missile yesterday, wow that sucker never lets go and it just keeps accelerating, fantastic feeling!

Now I'm in the process of looking for yet another fin, speed oriented with enough rake to handle very weedy conditions.

I'll be needing the fin for my 07 F2 slalom 90liters board with a Koncept 6.6 (09-It's in the mail!!).

I've borrowed a 27cm no-name weed fin from a buddy of mine and that one did a nice job holding the board in position, but do anyone have any suggestions as to what fins I should take a look at for the 90L/6.6Koncept setup?

Thanks y'all! :)

There doesn't seem to be a lot of good speed weedys on the market, here at Mandurah, where we have big weed problems, we either make our own or rebox a slalom fin.
Most ordinary weedys aren't an ideal speed foil.
The JP slalom fins seem to make quite good weedys when reboxed.
Remember when you tilt a pointer over to 45 deg, you lengthen the water line by about 40% but don't change the thickness, decreasing the flow to thickness ratio by the same amount. This is one of the reasons why some weedys don't have much power. So when reboxing it's good to pick a thicker more powerful fin.

hm... I'm not much of a 'do it yourself' guy, but I might know someone with the ability to do it.

On a sidenote, I tried the 23 KA fin on the 90L the other day, with a 5.5m2 and that worked just fine, would that work if I used the 6.6 instead?

Or... using the 6.6 on the 63L missile with the 23cm fin? :)

The perfect situation would be if I could sail with an even smaller fin on the missile and use the 23cm on the 90 liter and a 6.6! :)

should be OK downwind but not sure how you'd go getting back up wind.
It's certainly worth a try.

I've recently acquired a damaged 23cm Ka, finished repairing it, but haven't had enough wind to try it yet.
I do have a similar 24 cm that works well with my 6.0 both up and down wind.

Check this post scroll down to Chris Adamson's post, he's describing how the 23KA worked with his 6.3.
www.gpsteamchallenge.com.au/sailor_session/show?date=2009-09-24&team=10

You can see he got a 38.5 2sec with it, this is where my fin came from.

Thanks Decrepit, interesting information.

I'll try it out as soon as I get the 6.6, I'll report back as soon as I have some data.

Beat my pb today on the missile/5.5vapor/23ca KA, caught 3-400meters of fairly flat water and went for it.

nice feeling :)

Malloy , The 23 will be fine in the 90 liter slalom for proper downwind speed sailing if you are fully powered up.
Spotty has used his in a 70 cm wide Futura!!! .
It will feel underfinned when you sail upwind back to the start of the speed run but that is the trade off.

Lessachers Duo looks interesting, so does the Choco weed-speed.

Since the Swedish Kroner is in total shambles I'll try to get ahold on one of the choco fins and let you all know how that turns out.

I'll be trying the 23 KA on the 90liter/6.6 too, damn going upwind, no one ever went fast from doing that ;)

Thanks again guys!

Not an Aussie time, but still ok concidering. :)

I clocked 36,3 knots yesterday in choppy and gusty conditions, second time on the missile. I ran out of room as I started to hit chop from behind, not a pleasant feeling. I'll probably hit 40 knots next time I get some good conditions at my local spot.

Im satisfied with my progress, two years ago I wernt even in my footstraps. My gear is ok, problem is the rider right now, I can work on that :)
