ABC NEWS "Police say a man who died in an avalanche in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains was seen trying to ride the snow and ice before he was buried.

"He was seen to attempt to ride the snow and stay above the surface, however at some stage he's been engulfed by the large amount of snow and ice," he said.

Two other skiers also died in the area yesterday.

In the first fatality, a 59-year-old man died after hitting a tree while skiing at Blue Cow about midday.

Later in the afternoon, a 48-year-old Jindabyne man died after skiing into a tree at Sun Valley.

3 deaths on the same day! And people worry about sharks.

Wow that sounds similar to my one and only trip to Marrawah, just sustitute whitewater for ice and snow.

But Yep, It'd be interesting to see how many fatalities per year get aportioned for different sports.

I used to work as a rockclimbing guide and our insurance was fairly high but still nothing compared to horse riding...

The only good horse I've come across was a pizza topping in Italy!!
