One way to beat the Working From Home Blues!!!
Hope you enjoy it?
Probably only makes sense to those that've shared the Pilgrimage!!
This Uncanny Tide
How is it, this uncanny tide
That sprawls before us, primed to glide
Is even here, is but a wonder
By unseen force borne of the land
That stills the water's shaking hand
And tames the tempests fury
Whose weathered locals know the signs
Appearing of their own designs
Seeing clues known only to the few
And word has brought the pilgrims out
To see what this is all about
From far and wide they trek to seek the truth
At Five Mile there's good humour, tall tales
Comparing gear, unrolling sails
Nervous laughter, champing at the bit
The timeless lake though is never in a rush
It's morning calm extends a yawning hush
Stirred only but the ducks and biting flies
But when Swans take flight and head for calm
It's like some unspoken alarm
resounds amongst the straggling coffee drinkers
A clatter of gear replaces talk
Zippers up, begin the walk
Squelch your way to something close to water
It never looked that strong, you know
I should've rigged the six point oh
But bugger it, lets give this thing a crack
We're off and crap I'm fully lit
But comfortably and that's the hit
There is no chatter, just gurgle in my wake
I just sail and soak it in for a while
Everyone I pass shares a smile
That's bridging joy and utter disbelief
Then at last I bearaway and feel the fever
I've gotta say I'm now a true believer
I laugh to myself at the pure absurdity
I got forties on that glassy section
Swear I'd seen my own reflection
Invisible gusts yanking at the rig
That weed is something to behold
I vouch it's spun of purest gold
And stands apart from all I've ever seen
So, when breeze finally sighs to a halt
It's off to Beachport pub we bolt
For Voltaren, Schnitty and a Beer
Then dream of one more day to ride
Upon this vast uncanny tide
Long as this aching body of mine lets me
Jetlag 1/4/2020

always cool and never tiring

lets start a limerik competition to replace the gps until better times
A quick break from code writing to limerick writing:
There was a man from Lake Macquarie,
he was so keen for a sail at L.G.
he arrived there by truck,
to try out his luck,
and went home with a distance PB.

A little variation for rhyme's sake:
There was a man and it was me,
he was so keen for a sail at L.G.
he arrived there by truck,
to try out his luck,
and went home with a distance PB.
My GW60 doesn't work a bit
This Canmore unit never was a hit
A Garmin's not approvable
My PB's un-improvable
But doesn't a Motion also mean a S$&@?

Off topic tip eckas: Shortest and quickest way from Penola to Beachport is not through Millicent, but through Kangaroo Inn.![]()
I actually think it would save more time than this map suggests because there is more straight road and no towns. Just watch the Roo's around Kangaroo Inn School in the mornings and evenings! ![]()
