Just noticed that my top alpha 500 (20.527 knts) while sailing the other day was actually while tacking (up-wind), not gybing. Has anyone noticed this before?

Was sailing an iSonic 101 with an SSR 7.6. My next highest alpha (gybing) wasn't far behind at 19.174 knts.

Does sound odd, as going upwind you're normally going slower.
Have you checked that the tracks are valid???

Probably a 'spike' that has a sudden change of direction reversal and so is seen by the software as an Alpha.

Looks like it was, as there was a 4 second data entry right on the turn. Thanks.

It's nerve wracking watching the various models change every day David. This morning GFS (Windguru model) looks crap, GASP looks OK but the BOM 3 day high resolution model LAPS looks sensational. Everything is crossed...........
It's interesting how we have had a really good day just before Christmas for the last few years. I hope this one is the same.
