I was stoked with the turnout, and am always amazed at how successful the GTC is becoming... As you said, let's not forget the sponsors, without whom we wouldn't have such awesome prizes to give away.

Only got two of the start Mike,

Yeah the start was a bit of a snafu...

I thought I told everyone about the new start time, but obviously I didn't tell the one guy who decided he would become the starting gun...

Not to worry, it was a great day

that was funny- Hardie had confidently stated to me that there would be an extension of 15 minutes to the start so he could get out there . If its any consolation Hardie, I had just picked my rig up and was walking to the water when they took off. But you were within a frustrating few steps of being in the mix... if only hey... what if... ahhhh the anguish of it all.

Ben when are you coming back to Qld to run and event like that for us. Well done, looks like you had a great day

That was kind of funny how the race started? a few voicing "whats bloody going on, we starting or what" (it was ten past original start time).
I turned to Ben who was to the rear at the top of the line and he was bellowing as loud as he could with his arm skywards, fingers spread, "five minutes guys, five minutes"
I turned to see who and what had heard him, some how, and I dont know what language it was deciphered as to mean "GO" because the front runners down the line just took off like scalded cats leaving a few who had still not made it to the start line, stranded on the sand bar some 50 meters back
A great many made it down and back in one run, other scalded cats,[}:)] unfortunately found the uphill run meant being forced off into the shallow snot fields down wind and needing a tack back out, to make it back to the sand bar
Was bloody good fun just competing and observing some of the antics

So who won the thing anyway!!!!

Not me, but it was fun
