What would you suggest buying for a first time gps unit.
I've never used one before, but all I want is to find out how fast I've just gone on a run, so I can work out how to go faster. (And to see where my perception diverges from reality.)
Doesn't need to be top of the line, but functional and user friendly.
What models would you suggest? What should I look out for?
Purchased a Gt31 yesterday as my Christmas present to myself from my wife ![]()
I think there is more support for it in the sense there is continued firmware development and Dr Tom is a speedsailing devotee so it helps to have the distributor and a very competent computer programmer on our side, help from fellow users of the navi product is also much better than other products .
Makes a good choice couldn't see you going wrong with it .

You can get a Garmin Etrex H for about $120 and it will do what you say you want...
BUT,,.... if ever you get serious you will get a GT-31.
What ever you get, keep it dry.
