GPS Speedsurfing, someone by the name of Martin has done a 50knot peak and 49 knot 10sec.
This is the comments from Pete Davis:
1st time I have managed to sail the Ray. What a day!
My fastest 10 sec and fastest max ever. Unfortunately I span out on the 1st run and twisted my knee and the rest of the runs suffered with my final run crashing and putting a hole in the sail, Bummer. Classic day at the Ray defiantly I will be back. Congrats to Martin who managed an over 50 knot peak and 49k 10 sec, amazing.
93,45 kmh max speed navi 10 second 89,89
Martin just called me and i got this info from him
He was surfing with dave white in south end
Gertjan van Meurs
It was by Martin van Meurs, a well known speed sailor. I'm sure Chis knows him.
That's a superb effort.
Peak speed: 93.45 km/h = 50.459 Knots!
10 seconds: 89.89 km/h = 48.537 Knots!
Very impressive indeed!
Sounds like he had 2 GPS so it will be very interesting to see the data and comparisons.
And he sails for MauiSails and currently using TR-3's
Lets see how much faster he'll go with the new TR-4's
Congrats Martin......

51.1 "2 sec" peak!!!!!!!
Absolutely awesome !!!! Great speeds now being acheived on a wide variety of different branded gear, both boards and sails, which is encouraging for Mr Joe average ![]()
