On our 1st Aug sesh, wind was light but found a nice gust and went for a downwind nautical mile anyway. Struggled to get back upwind and then the wind dropped.
Was very surprised when I loaded the data into realspeed to find the nautical mile faster than the 5 X 10sec 26.399 for NM, 25.87 for 5 X 10.
The NM takes about 2min, 5 X 10 is only 50sec so how can it be less????
Turns out that only 1 10sec result is taken from each run by default.
If I untick the box that says "one result per run" I get a 5 X 10 of 28kn, as it takes four 10 sec periods from the NM and the 5th from my next fastest run.
Guess it doesn't make a lot of difference most of the time, just surprised that it works this way.
I don't think we should change it, that would just make for confusion, but just be aware, that you need 5 good runs to get a good 5 X 10, One long one won't do.
Maybe you got one good 10sec and the rest not.
Remember nm is only one run could have been a gust on that run.
Example you might go sailing only get one run and the wind drop.
nm will be good but 10sec will be nothing.
hope that makes sense.
