From the late '80's Windsurfing VHS Video "Raw Power". This would have to have been the event in 1989 I recon.
To my utmost frustration I can't get the aspect ratio exactly right. The only way I have found is to play it with VLC and select aspect Ratio 5:4. That seems to be very very close.
This event was obviously around the same time or after our September 1989 event at Sandy Point where Mal Wright went over 41.5 Kt for 250m (not WSSRC Official) , exceeding the then WSSRC World 500m record of 40.48 knots (Eric Beale).
The section on tandems is particularly interesting to me!
They say the course they were looking for was 125 degrees off the wind, but in most of the video it looks tighter than that to me, and it is clear now that the optimum angle as more like 130 to 135 off the wind, depending on the wind strength.
