ok been at it for a little while - as previous posts will atest.
but I'm thinking I could use some intensive 1 on 1 sessions with an expert. So I'm not doin it just wrong and learn really bad habits.
I've looked at the Jem Hall training camps and the like, but not sure 10k + for a week or so is really feasable.
Could probably get to East coast Australia. and will have a couple of weeks holidays coming up.
Any Ideas?
A few possible options. Make a trip to Lancelin WA in summer and organise kit and lessons there or even on the Swan River. Or you could book yourself in with the winter trip to Lord Howe Island. There will be gear for hire plus there will be a good crew to sail with. Thirdly there are windsurfing holidays to Fiji.
Finally you could join a Tassie GPS Challenge team and meet up with team members. Along with some instructional DVDs and use of a digital video and still camera taking footage of you sailing, this combination will help you improve. You will be sailing and watching experienced sailors who will most probably help you out with equipment advice and tuning along with technique. It would cost that much, maybe $300 for the GPS gear and software along with a few hundred dollars for a cheap camcorder and a digital still camera.
Having gone to uni in tassie I know how depressing winter can get. For the cost of a Jem Hall week you could fly to Cocos Island in July or August and have 2 of the best weeks windsurfing (flat water) anywhere. We went over with the guys from second wind and my wife went from waterstarting and not in the harness often to blasting around the lagoon in the straps and loving it.
There are bonuses with cocos as well, no crowd, kiters stay your way, awesome surf and alcohol is duty free.
