Just wondering who those people are... very low posts number though they seem to know everyone and every history of the forum !!

Is there a way for the admins to control those who would set up multiple accounts ? (same ip when connecting or registering ?)
(I was previously on a car forum where you couldn't do that)

can't really say they bring anything constructive to the place....

Pretty obvious by the distinctive language style, and abuse

agreed sean it is pretty sad

It is a big problem on the "Boards" forum where abuse seems to be very common. Someone there posted a link to a great article on this type of behaviour. The article is called "who are the people in the dark corners".

That was a good article........and it's interesting that the people that like it have real or partially real user names.

Reminds me of the old rec.windsurfing forum back in the early days of the net.
Full of trolls, insults and personal vendettas ,eventually became unreadable.
Happy to say Seabreeze has very little to none of that on the WS forums.

I think whats even sadder is those with really high post counts that spend hours arguing with them and destroy the whole thread, instead of letting the mods do their job

Sometimes it's the date joined date that tells the story. In some cases there are those that have been members for years quietly watching with just a hand full of posts. It is the ones who have just joined that seem to be in the know that are the sus ones...

On a similar note new members should feel safe in posting and not be intimidated by those with high post counts. unfortunately there have been a few in the past that feel rate their authority based on the number of posts. Let everyone have a say I say...

It's probably best not to mention who they are as it only gives them more traction.

I think the moderators do an exceptionally good job on this site, as the level of attack seems very low, and inappropriate posts are usually removed. (Yes, one of my recent posts was removed, which I thought was a bit harsh- but if that is the price for keeping the board respectable, so be it.)

A couple of years ago, virtually everyone's profile that i clicked on suddenly had their real full names, as with my own account, where they didn't before, which was very unusual. I'm guessing Seabreeze obtained this info from ISP IP and entered it for us? Was this an attempt to weed out the trouble accounts? If so, i wonder if it helped?

I remember signing up years ago and when it said "user name" I actually put my name haha I had no idea about people making up a fake name and hiding behind the anonymity to take stabs at people like a twat.

I use fake details because people respond very differently when they realise I am actually an intelligent, beautiful woman that loves windsurfing.

There's some basic trolls about, to get the maximum amount of users rightly pissed you need to mention Robby Naish and his Polevault forwards..

That's blasphemy level 'Drawing The Phrophet Mohammad'

A quote from 16th century philosopher Michel de Montaigne states:

"There is no conversation more boring than the one where everybody agrees"

Enjoy the forum banter - there's absolutely no point in taking it too seriously.

I accept your Montaigne and raise you a Voltaire (surely the patron saint of the argumentative)

"What! Have you no monks to teach, to dispute, to govern, to intrigue and to burn people who do not agree with them?

...not that I support the burning of people...flaming is usually quite sufficient.
