I dont do lunch,(what a waste of time) but I usually windsurf during normal working hours during the week, say 3 to 5pm and come home as per normal, everyones happy.even work as im a nicer person then the stressed out bloke watching for green arrows stressing about making excuses to leave. I just leave. On the weekend its about compromise, theres the I dont do lunch rule, and woops its windy Ill just go for a quick one, get home for the kids bedtime, everyones smiling.....ususally.

Find one that windsurfs or kites (or is keen as to start), its the only sure way ![]()
Just had 2 weeks holiday on the Goldy without any board sports.
At the airport on the way back the Boss asks what the winds going to be like for the weekend, tell her it's looking good, She tells me "thats great" (sincerely) and that I need a sail![]()

I'm with Arlo & Divaldo. I'm afraid this isn't a 'wife' issue, but a non-windsurfing partner issue.
I've tried everything to find the balance - begging, pleading, teaching my partner to sail, buying him gear, numerous apologies, lots of butt kissing, arranging and paying for windsurfing holidays for 2 and then tainting them with other activities in an attempt to increase their appeal, offering um... 'other' services in exchange for windsurfing time
.
Nothing has worked - it's always windsurfing that is compromised to keep the peace. So I've recently given up on the whole peace thing and instituted a 'windsurfing first' policy. He's welcome to come, but if he doesn't want to, I'm going alone and *won't* be made to feel guilty about it any more! ![]()

[}:)]lucky yo pardner...he should get hypnotized...
JP, I think everyone who's got a wind-sports addiction has done this at one time or another. One of the final nails in the coffin of my (ex)marriage was bailing out from the family xmas bbq at my inlaws' place because it got windy, having previously promised not to do so
Of course, this was after a long string of similar bail-outs.
As someone else said though, having a similarly wind-sports addicted partner (as I now do) helps immeasurably!
My wife dosen't even like sand, let alone water. She has a horse though, and was away all weekend competing before I had even heard of windsurfing. I would hang around the place fixing fences. I became resentful (its me or the horse). Then I realised that it was making her really happy, so why should I squash it.
We have an extremely balanced relationship and respect each others individuality. After 27 years we probably have something right. She's out with the horse now while I am looking at green arrows all comming from the wrong direction. Maybe I should trade my Exercet on a saddle.....No silly thought.
My husband doesn't windsurf. I also tried everything (including the trips to Fiji and WA)to get him on the water, he got to the stage where he was just in footstraps and harness and then wasn't interested. (he has just never been a beach person) Way back then though the gear wasn't great and I always made him use my old stuff to learn on.(I think he would find it much easier if he tried now)
Has now worked out for the best that he doesn't windsurf as now we have 2 kids he kindly looks after them on the weekends when I want to get out on the water. I made sure before I married him that he knew windsurfing was always a huge priority for me and he knows how happy I am after a good session.

Great idea Mineral
but if any of them WERE IN THE KNOW where would they be right now?????Getting seriously WET that's where. Cos if my partner was dragging me around the wineries right now I WOULD NOT BE HAPPY oh no. And I reckon I would recognise the pining look out of the window at ALL THE DUST BLOWING AROUND. I gotta find another way to eat.![]()
Thanks Mineral
Susie
Sorry, I'm a little grumpy cos I was gonna get up at six n go for a quick sail before work but THE NEIGHBOURS decided to drink wine YES WINE until after THREE in the morning and sounded like HYENAS but slurring their howls n so I dint get much sleep n NO I couldn't get up early enough to sail cos I was SO TIRED. N it dint really pick up until I was on my way to work anyway. N the shop is shut so I cant buy a tshirt n I probably can't afford one anyway![]()
N just wait, I bet Divaldo gets on here tomorrow n raves about the great sail he and ALL THE OTHERS had today.![]()
N now I better go and sell some wine. N I think if I was married to a non windsurfing person like jp747 I would be just as horrible. Cos listen to me. AAAArrrgggghhh wait until I see my boss. Making me work when its windy. Ok I'm gonna shut up now I'm embarassing myself having a tanty.

bail-outs mr. bonk was always natural to me in not so impt. social events..i'd brief my wifey before hand that 30mins. into the event i'd slowly slip away and she'll cover my tracks...she was good at that...all the bad rap i had against her where nasty but however again she understands..and my thanks to her..'he knows how happy I am after a good session'-kt, in vice-versa i know wifey knows how i feel and that's a good plus and takes advantage of it which i reeeeallly don't mind![]()
