mate sailing back from straddie to manly yesterday (boat) saw what appeared to be vast swarms of bluebottles...beware.
On sunday at wello (apart from the sharks) there were stacks of what I first thought were bluebottles but on inspection were odd shaped things with no stinger. I've never seen anything like them before, juvenille blue bottles maybe?
mmmm that sounds like em. Seen half way between Peel and Huybers beacon.(Wello) No sign of any today at Manly.
Ah yuck. Exactly what Reddy is like.
Coming out from the Shorncliffe boat launching thing the jellies are so thick there, I was TERRIFIED if I fell off the ski loL! hhaha actually really scarry
But I was at Wello on Monday, and I saw 3 stingrays (Would have been Diagonally 40cm) and in not even 1m deep water!
Had JUST swum my dog >German Shephard X Grey Hound< in the water there, and about 2min later the 3 of them appeared!!! It was on the TOP of the water to, contrary to what we usually see is them on the bottom! Called the marine thing to see if it was sick or why and yes, they do that in more shallow water!
It then move further underwater as it move out towards Straddy (came from manly direction on high tide)
Just keep eyes open i guess for a lot of things!
Stingrays bask on the surface just like sharks. Occasionally you get big schools of them in the bay just lying on top of the water.
The blue jellies I can handle, blue bottles are a little more fierce but I suppose with all the wind we've been having they are due to come in.

Sharks only have a taste for kiters, a wise old monk told me so ![]()
Besides they weren't all that big, after looking at that spot on monday the water would have been about 1m deep.
Lotys of blue bottles at Scotts Point sunday also, small blue tea bag things with a small sail on the top. Lots on beach but none in water as was out all arvo and didn't get stung. Not seen them there before.![]()
I got stung by something at manly on sunday.
And it wasnt the normaly light blue jelly sting this hurt
.
It wasn't in moreton bay, but today out near Gladstone I saw something that looked very much like a crocodile by the way it swam. The next gybe was very very careful, and one minute later I was on dry land...
Still have goosebumps!
