Hi Guys,
Iv'e been learning to sail on a an old one design board for the last two years and was looking at upgrading to some more interesting. I am 80 Kgs. is wavesailing an option.
thanks Nick
I've heard good things about the Fanatic Freewave 104L. Probably big enough for you to uphaul at your weight, but not too small? And pretty decent in the waves for its size. You will probably also get a heap of suggestions to buy freeride boards such as JP excites around 120-130L, but they aren't suitable for waves. Depending on your ability thou, they may be a better option?
But probably need a bit more information to give you better advice? what conditions do you usually go out in (wind speeds etc), what sails sizes you use and where do you usually sail?
Usually a good option is to find out the person that sails most where you live and get similar gear to them.
I'm not a wave sailor and not knowing your skills I would have though going from a One Design straight into wave is a big ask others may be more experienced in offering better advice.
If thats the route you want to take perhaps start looking at crossover boards like the JPFSW, Exocet Cross, *board Kombat (or is it Kode now) etc they all make big floaty versions that are capable of freeride/Freestyle/waves prob in +115l mark.
Get heaps of TOW and practice fast waterstarts esp in lumpy chop in the lake, and you will also need some wave sails.
Good Luck.
