Such as? and so you should you sail EVERYDAY and for many more years than me, (oh and I hardly sailed from 97-04 also). Back when I first started sailing you were the gun on the water everyone would watch in wonder as mikey blasted round, you will understand my jubilation then as I dance around you when I beat you on the race course for the first time , i'm starting to feel its not too far off. Besides you have had a bump and jump board for more years than I have, I've only had one for a year and then I have to divide my TOW into slalom and freestyle. Maybe i'll have to go to sandy point this year and again I shall dance around chanting "sorry mike what was that...freestyle is crap???"

Where were you today, you missed our impromtue freestyle gear races. Apparently I cheated and pumping is not allowed , The way i see it beating people on race gear is easy try it on slow gear (although i'm not too sure Pat is all that happy that he couldnt keep up to not one but two freestyler's on a top of the line race sail and a hypersonic , next time i'll be all pirate and swipe his gear for making hyper's look slow [}:)]).

Yeah haircut I found it a bit sad too, here I was thinking WQ should appeal to all facets of the sport but no just the back and forth people.

I finished 2 races without falling off thankyou very much , you better stop paying out on me soon there are quite a few sailors that may get upset. Damn some things you can never live down, I could live to challenge bjorn dunkerbeck (i wish) and still you'd be saying "ah he'd do better if he could gybe".

Saw John today he was very impressed with your speed on your new plank.

i think initially he was a bit disheartened with them as he couldn't get on the plane as early as he could with the equivalent sized RS. But I think he's now resigned to the fact that they are suited for the bigger winds and reckons they work nice in a stronger blow. I'm not sure if he kept an RS for lighter winds or not?

Mkseven, are you involved in the running of WQ in any way? Has the idea of a superX type event ever been raised?

Haircut, no i'm not. It was raised in some talks on supporting freestyle and wave events, I believe they dont want to support wave due to insurance issues and superx is in the same boat. Plus extra gear is required for superx (sausages etc).

yes he is isn't he. You'd think after 10 years of being whipped by the froggy that everone would give up on the speed stuff and go and learn to do some real sailing

Leski knows all too well how kitesurfing is gear-simplistic,
but makes us laugh with the irony of the pic and topic title.
'So much stuff for Kitesurfing'
(a reminder for those who had forgotten the thread title)?

Leski is a surfer (among other things) and knows the value of simplicity.
A surfboard, wax and wetsuit. Too easy dude.
That's soul, man.

The wakeboarding background connection to kiting rewarded the sport of kitesurfing with the twin-tip kiteboard,
but unfortunately at the same time gay kickers and sliders were also inherited.
Serendipity sometimes demands a price.

Kitesurfing is still about surfing.
Fences with PVC pipe stuck on top will never be a substitute for ocean waves.
I guess taking the soul out of the sport and replacing it with circus hoops and hurdles,
suits sh1tfull surfless locales and some riders that fear Ma Nature's fury.

Pitching waves aren't for all riders (bless them) but nor are sliders
bang in the middle of the main traffic kitezone either.
(Same goes for newbies standing bang in the middle flying their kites at lunchtime).
Consideration with regards to non-slider users must prevail. Selection of materials for the construction of these obstacles is also an issue.
Maybe blow-up sliders could be the happy compromise.

Rant over.

Regards,
slave.

me heard they're already making some, available in some quite special type of shop..maybe the crew into these sliders thingo must have some at home that they could bring down to the beach.

I don't mind the urban style riding but you got to ride with what is out there. If there a tree trunk, gaz pipe, old yacht pen,.. whatever, then ride on it.
but to bring you own ** down at the beach?

your probably thinking of Cliffy, but its actually Bernie the froggie that Tony is refering too

actually cliffy is like "eddie the eagle" - he sails 5 times a year on gear that shouldn't even float, and still goes faster than most

btw Bludga, i got my board, and thanks for the info too!

This dude looks like he's spent more time on the water than all of us put together. Long grey hair, very well tanned, and rides sonic & north warp.

yeah i think that would be pretty right, or probably an rs-5, but yes a new model sonic. Knowing Bernie he would have bought whatever went quickest at the time. He's certainly the most consistently quick guy around the train, and has been for as long as i've known him. Others probably are quicker on rare occasions, but not consistently

there are lots of guys at the train with new sonics now so its getting tight knecked as far as the speed stuff goes, though some never seem to go faster no matter what they buy

Ditto, having quick gear dosent make you quick. Oh and just remember people that sail quick in chop are even quicker once they hit the flat

Bernard - I'd believe so. I think he's become the local straight-line hero over the years. For a while there he was starting to sweat it a bit because paul was giving him a run for his money, and i think Zoran might also be hot on his heels, but i'm not sure what the rankings are now that Bernie bought himself a sonic too. I think there are about 6 guys there that own sonics. Pauls is the first model, the others have the newer version with the sunken mast track. 1 guy by the name of Patrick recently bought an Isonic and some of the others sailing with him felt he might have actually been the quickest at the time. He's a big guy and seems to go quick on anything, and now even quicker. Would be interesting to see them all in a 1km straight run on a windy day!

we come up alot over winter. paul, mark, ed, andrew, cliffy, toots, and myself are often there if its a sure thing forecast wise. I really like it at wello and manly. I know people whine about the tide and crappy bottom, but whats the use of a nice sandy bottom and waves without wind? Even in summer u get better wind

Same thing up the coast no wind.Caloundra's got some nice flat water but no wind. The only other spot that seems to get wind is Redcliffe.
