booms are the one thing that i wont compromise on. this boom seems to be getting good reviews, but why is there only a midget size available 140-190?!
How is availability at the moment? maverick indicated the price was $950, was that at windforce or second wind?
i think 160-210/220ish seems to be perfect for me because it covers 4.2 - 6+ with minimal extension (=stiffness maintained), PC-Simpson says the stiffness is maintained on full extension but i wonder thow this is achieved. is it just the reduced diameter that help achieve this? The north slalom booms seems to work well at doing this with the tail end on the outside of the arms.
What are the comparive weights in kg's for the enigma and pryde?
Personally i would prefer a bit of extra weight if it meant more peace of mind, because for me the advantages of carbon are all about strength, stiffness and durability rather than weight alone.
as for the new school shape, i wonder how that might feel to someone who still uses the old school shape on the slalom booms- i think it might be wierd to mix it up...
i guess the same could be said for the diameter, ive used a 28mm one and it felt OK, im not sure i would want to go any smaller - i have big hands.

Basically, if you ever have a day sailing with one you will never want to give it back.
Awesome boom, perfect grip size, width is perfect, still feels nice and stiff even extended out to a 6m wave sail..
The length is perfect for wavesailors which it's made for, covers your whole quiver of sails.
Only problem with them is, everyone will try to steal it..
I have had the enigma for a year now and it is holding up very well.
I only use it in the waves and mainly with a 6.2m severne blade(184cm).Boom still good stiffness at that extension.
Most of the new wavesails with the boom cutout are less than 190cm now anyway.
My previous boom was a carbon hypersonic 135-195. I have only used the old boom once since getting the enigma even though it was an ok boom, just find the narrow grip great(and much lighter), just takes a few goes to get used to it.
I understand the shortage is due to the fact that they are made in the Wonka factories carbon division. And there aren't enough Oompa Loompas with the required skillz to make them (Whangdoodles keep eating them). The fine art of making Wonka chocolate is not so different than making the finest Pre-preg carbon booms, you see..
I hear there is an Epoxy river, and it's mixed with an Epoxy waterfall. You know, no other factory mixes their epoxy by waterfall, but it's the only way if you want it just right..
I pieced that together, mostly from sugar packets.
I think working with epoxy sometimes takes its toll on the mind, hence most of Barney's posts.

so that special mexican healing brew consumed in vast quantities last week was of little help.
Couldn't wait for an enima so I got the x9, arrived within a week, light as... Don't know what all the fuss was about. If I had some scales I'd weigh it for and report back. Stiff as! QUALITY construction and components. Price, competitive. Shape, suits me more than new skool shape. Can't wait to give it a fang!
