does any one else have trouble with this design ,the rope broke with no real signs of wear,it has un clamp for no reason and also twist out of shape when sailing allowing the boom to flex up and down a lot.

does any one have a fix for this,i have fitted bigger rope but it does not clamp up well

I use my Severne boom with SDM masts and it works fine, no evidence of rope failure and no movement once it is on the mast. How tight are you making the clamp? I only have mine so it clamps with just more than enough pressure to hold it so it's not very hard to push the lever over.

Use Marlow Formuline 4.0mm, on boom clamp , out-haul and down-haul. It is much stronger , lasts forever and makes down-hauling considerably easier.

i have both skinny and fat boom heads and they both twist badly ,i have had to increase the pressure to stop them un clamping ,my sunshine booms and my 20 year old north booms don,t do this and have solid connections, it makes a very solid boom feel quite flex y, i am a heavy weight and sail with a lot of down pressure in a seat harness .i am wondering if any one has put a different boom head fitted.i was once an unofficial boom tester for north booms id break them send them back they would send me a new style id break that eventually they came up with the heavy duty booms and i still got them and use them on my smaller sails

I replaced my severne boom head last week as the boom was moving a lot. It turned out that the small piece of plastic at the front of the boom head (that also sticks out at the front of the boom head) was worn that resulted in a lot of play. Next time I will try to just replace this part.

its funny when you start to think, i talked to andy and he recommended to go back to the large clamp ,well while i was changing it back i realized that i was to lazy to undo the knot on the clamp last time so i had only swap the other parts so the rope was not the new rope it was the old rope ,what is the imogy for brain fade???????
