anyone use this boom with a camber sail...race or free race in a 6 -7.0m size ? just wondering if the tail end is too narrow when sail is at its lowest outhaul setting.
I use that boom 160-210 for 6.2m Mach and 6.0 turbo/7.0 ncx sails, tail width is fine for those sails.

thanks.... I have same sail 6.2 mach4..and 7.0 overdrive. thanks
If you have it outhauled right to the boom end it doesn't matter how wide the boom end is
Not necessarily. Full-blown cambered sails will still touch the boom. Those sails even have an additional protection strip along the batten touching the boom.
Yes, race sails will always touch the boom when tuned correctly, but it will not touch at the very end of the boom as the outhaul is placed centrally.
I haven't seen much difference/advantage in smaller sail sizes (<8.0), I think it has more of an influence above about 8.0 sized sails. I now only use a wider boom-end for 8.6 and up.
Ive got the 160, 170, and 180 booms, plus m3 5.0 to 7.0 and OD 7.8 8.6 ,plus turbo gt 7.0.
The 160 is fine with the 6.2 m3 and the 7.0 turbo, however with the 7.0m3, it not really ideal, as its not really wide enough and is a little too light weight. I prefer using the 180 on the 7.0 and the 170 on my 6.2. They feel more solid with these sails. The 170 boom is wider than the 160 and slightly larger diameter as well.
In saying all this the 160 is my favourite boom, great for freeride sails and is a sweet combo with a 7.0 turbo gt and a lightweight RDM mast
