Thought l share a near miss incident while out sailing today down at my favourite spot kurnell. The wind was just starting to pick up when all of a sudden l did a massive stack over the bars .one of my pitfalls .but seriously as l was flying the rig over getting ready for mounting the board again my hand slipped & the mast ended on my big head had l not been wearing my lid l think l would of been knocked out cold .PS.THEY KEEP YOUR HEAD WARM TOO.ey
Gav I'm with you there mate! 1st time I wore a helmet was the 1st major stack I had as well, glad I had it on, probably would of been shark food if it wasn't for the helmet!
Have to admit - I wear mine more and more these days. Apart from the safety aspects, it does keep your melon nice and toasty. 
I just need protecting every where else the Gath and Impact vest doesnt cover!!!
I just bought my first helmet for those big days. The only reason I have heard for not wearing one is they look silly, I am not sure what they mean ?

I recon you could. Go to an auto store and buy the plastic primer for colour matching car bumpers.

I painted mine hazard yellow it was white l find its a good colour for those late in the afternoons blasts also if you are bobbing in the water other crafts can see you you should sand it back to rough up the surface then a 1000 grit sand wet apply a clear coat plastic primer then what ever paint you desire!
