I have a question for the budding board builder. Is it possible to mount a powerbox insert without cutting through the deck of the board? I'm wondering if some laminated carbon would be sufficient to adhere the box to the deck, but don't want to ruin the deck. I want to use carbon, then a slurry of q-cells and some mill fibre to mount the box through the hull. Then go over the box with 93gsm carbon to keep the weight down.

Yes, but you will have to waterproof the deck area where the fin bolt goes through.

Great, thanks Rider. I was going to use a carbon mixture in a hollow, right up to the deck, then drill through. Using flikka pb and not sure if they are pre drilled or not.
