Hi,I've been trying different sail and board combos and was wondering what an oversized sail rides like.to be more specific I had a 95 l f2 Axxis and a 7.0 m gaastra gtx twin cam,on the bottom of the board,it says recommend sizes go up to 6.6.the wind was 20 plus knots. the sail was a bit jerky and the whole feel was a bit scetchy but im hardly am intermediate sailor.would this combo work.the sail looks fairly well trimmed as far as I can tell, the mast rotation was pretty easy and the sail had a good un wrinkled shape, the mast is a tushingham 430 free wave 21 with a 45 cm ext,any feed back appreciated.

for me 6.6 to 7.0 m2 is NOT significant
sail ranges on boards seem mostly tied to fin sizes which is turn are related to width - especially one foot from the back OFO
a big fin on a 95 liter boards makes no sense - you would fly rather than plane = no control

masts and sails on the other hand - need to complement each other
for me Gaastra is hard top and Tushingham is soft top - ie at opposite ends of the scale

however - whatever works for you and gives you time on the water /TOW is FUN

^^ agreed
Not only do you have a sail designed for a hard-ish tip mast rigged on a flex tip mast, it is also a wave mast.
The cams will not sit right on the mast and the leech will not be twisting correctly so may be all over the place.

It would also be too big for an Axxis of that size - modern freeride or slalom boards are wider and thus can carry more fin and thus more sail. The 6.6 is about it I reckon.

So all added together would make a very unsettled feeling combo.

No flex top on a gaastra!!
If you want to have the gaastra running put a hard top gaastra mast.
Look at unifier mast selector www.unifiber.net/masts-selector if you want to put something else, allthe more for a GTX.
As said before it might be too big for the axxis, but it is worth to give it a try, I put 7.8 I'm my old bee 59cm wide and it works quite well.
