I've been doing some searching for foam for my next board, and I've come across some 11kg/m3 eps.
I normally use 13.5kg/m3.
This lighter foam will only result in saving 200gm in an 80l board, is it worth it?
The compressive tension at 10% deflection is a lot different 70Kpa for the 13.5 and only 50Kpa for the 11.
I guess this will mean a stronger sandwich, at least in the impact areas, so the 200gm saving may not be achievable anyway.

Has anybody used 11gm/m3 foam with what results?

I heard that James Dinnis has used 11kg in the past. Now? Not sure.

I just spoke to WA Polystyrene, and he reckoned the 11kg/m3 foam is much to weak, it blows apart if you breath on it, sort of thing.
So I'll be going with the 13.5kg/m3

I reckon it would be too. 16kg for a waveboard, 13.5 for freeride etc.

BTW what are they charging for a block?

Including GST
$128 for a 2.4 X120X150
$77 for 2.4X500X150. This includes a $7 charge for cutting the big block.

About half what I paid RMax 8 years ago for the same size blank.

I'm getting the block from future foams in Jandakot, for $60. much closer to Mandurah, and cheaper!
