Hypothetically, y'know, I know a guy........

OK, I'll be honest! I bought some footstraps (needed them urgently, at the time), Dakine Vario fixed, (kiteboard straps!) to replace my 'perished' fanatic-cross w/surf board straps.

I don't adjust my straps regularly, so I'm OK with fixed, but the straps seem very wide. At this point I haven't had a chance to use them, my question is, have I just kissed good money away in order to 'rush' to get something to satisfy a need, or can kite-straps be used on a w/surf board? (the guy at the shop said it would work.....he's could be just making a sale though!)

Whew, from the responses, it sounds like they might work. I'll get out tomorrow and have a crack. I was a bit concerned about the 'stretchiness', but as I'm not doing any 'hardcore' riding, it shouldn't be a major.

The straps themselves feel comfy, but are twice as wide (but not a thick/bulky) as regular adjustable footstraps. I'll post how they go.

Thanks.

The problem I had with them (Kitesurfing straps) was that after landing a jump, my feet would go straight through, felt dangerous, so I swapped over to dakine windsurfing straps.

When you screw kite-straps onto your poleboard....
you can do 30ft boosts.

i just started to kite to fill in those boring 12 knots sunday arvo's, been windsurfing forever, and always will, the thing i found with kite straps is you cant hook your toes up to pull up on the strap, i do this alot when wave riding and when it's really windy, but i got some foot pads to run as front pads on a project board i'm building, heaps thick a cumfy, i give the kite guys credit when it comes to foot pads.
I've been using a kite waist harness for about 5 years, there built stronger and you can bugger of that silly knife and use the pocket for your car key..

I'm using mine on a wave board, only running one strap. But as these straps are so much wider, for 2 too fit it would need to be a wider style board.

Soooo many of the kiting straps do this! You're nearly hard-pushed to find a pair that doens't on hard inpact and if not very tight.

Not having looked that closely at a windy board, how are the straps actually different!? For those who have seen or used both?! *just interested *

W/surf straps aren't as thick, but are rigid, the woven material is connected directly to where the screws connect it to the board, as opposed to kitestraps, where the strap is a 'stretchable' rubber. Just guessing, as it's the first time I've taken notice of kite straps, but you could probably adjust w/surfing straps to an accurate fit, so your feet will only go so far. I'm hoping that my feet are 'boofy' enough not to slip through?!?

P.C. pulling up on the strap was my main concern with the flexibility of the straps, but as I mainly play in the flat, or choppy water, I thought I'd get away with it. Hopefully heading out shortly to test them.......

just waiting for the phone call...........waiting............waiting?!?

Geez, it bloody windy out there......anyone have a 2m - 2.5m sail???

No idea what that means Haircut...(I'm guessing it's a 'kiter' reference!)

Not many kiter's around here!! But I'll take the knock. (And next time I'll be careful how I endorse kite gear!)

But.....mmmm.......their straps are comfy!!!
