all these photos were taken by jason and some are recent while speed ones are around a couple of weeks.
enjoy......
this is in port sorell-or shearwater (tas) my home spot for both the speed and other pics...... it's around a 20min drive from devonport.the speed runs over 650m long on low tide and the wave ones are on a high tide.but the waves happen when is easterly winds and the speed run best from sw to nw winds.my dad and dave have don over 41 knots with other hovering around 35 up.
the line on this map is the speed run following the sand bar showing the run to get on to it to.
It's been a while since I saw surf coming in there like that - back when I was your age Izaak we used to get our one-designs out in stuff like that, used to get a good swell once or twice a year there.
hey easty if i havent asked you before why not join the tassie speed seakers on gps team challenge but that if you want to.![]()
Gday izaak,
I might be in Wynyard visiting the inlaws in January for a couple of weeks. Might bring one board and rig, looks like some good spots for speed down there, sailed Georgetown and Marrawah back in the 90s. Would like to try out some of your nice flat water spots this time.
Would you bet on floaty board or speedy board for January??
Phil
ok fair enough.
sailpilot,
i would sugest that any thing could happen so if you had some thing around 90-100 lt or mabe a little less ? it would be fine most wind around january is around 15-20 knots but maybe the odd day of 25 knots every now and again so if you could check some forcasts before you go that might give you an idea.
