Hey ,
Has anyone ever windsurfed in green islands ? Would love to here about the terms ! Im looking for flat water , onshore/sideshore strong wind ;)
And when is the best time to go ?
Thanks in advanced!
It's literally the best place on the east coast for flatwater windsurfing ... Soooooooooooooo good!
It works all winter (the locals can be more specific). I assume June/July would be the best. I spent all of last June there...sailed nearly every day with +20 knots perfect sideshore from the top of the island. It's a decent length boatride out from Cairns each day but you are sailing on the reef and it's so spectacular.
Looks a bit like this.
That looks spectacular sailing, Green Island has just made my radar.
Productivity halved today due to sneaky research on winter holiday.
The nationals were there last June. The search button will give you plenty of results like this: www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/General/Australias-Windsurf-Slalom-Paradise/?SearchTerms=green,island

hahaha yeap! Be happy I didn't post the pics of my windsurfing button-up shirts ;-)
This is from the Slalom Nationals last year as well ...
Everyone gonna come up again this year? I think there's a bunch of us going to live at Gilligans for the whole of June. haha
Loving the hand drags n crystal clear waters, such a great place to sail! Ditch the stripy t this year though Sean and just stick with the open shirt, much better look ;)
