looking to get a better fin for my JP FSW 93L. It has a JP 27cm FSW fin. I'm thinking about Maui Fin Co 28 Freewave. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Using this board for B&J 5.5-6m conditions.
The MFC freestyle wave fins are Awesome fins, was running one in my last freestyle wave board, it come with a 28cm MFC Freestyle wave but i used a 23cm in the same fin, in surf and flat water, with sails from 4.6m to 5.8m, amazing fin, if it did spin out from weed or what ever it recover no problem, i would suggest you run a 25cm fin in your JP, I only use MFC fins now in all my boards.
what size FSW board are you running PC? thanks for the rap on the MFC fins. I reckon the JP 07 FSW fins are pretty crap. I think the 08 fins are a little better but I think this board will feel a lot better with a different fin.
i was on a "06" Quatro 95, sold it just recently, i had a "04" JP 91 before that, both FSW's and great boards, yer the original JP fin i had was pretty shocking too.
From this discussion, it sounds like I've got to get me an MFC fin![]()
Who on the east coast or Online dealers stock them?
In my humble opinion the pre G-10 JP fins work best as a door wedge or perhaps a camping shovel and should not be allowed to come within 2 metres of any board. MFC fins are a quantum leap from the JP's. IMO you can get away with a smaller MFC fin in powered wave conditions as it will make your FSW way looser to get vertical and work the wave better as opposed to outrunning it - I'd be looking at a 23cm - 24cm fin max for waves. If you're a big boy look at the K-One developed by Kevin Prichard who's a racer turned wave sailor so he likes to plane, point as rip.
Good luck - you'll never look back
AB...
just went crazy and bought a 28cm MFC Freewave & a 24cm MFC 101. Alberto was great to deal with and they should be winging their way my way soon. Thanks for the advice.
