Smart Send. Sail from Perth to Sydney costs around $40, obviously goes up as you go to the outer suburbs etc. I've always sent gear through them and never had any issues.

E-go depot to depot is about that also, I think $50 insured when I did it last year.

DON'T use Transdirect

I used e-go to get sails sent to WA from NSW in the past, so the other way should be similar. I have been told that it should be a bit cheaper as a lot of trucks come back empty from WA, so freight is cheaper.

I used to roll up 3 sails together and cover them with another layer of cardboard or similar. Items are charged by cubic volume, so a little bit of protection adds almost nothing to the cost.

As Mark has suggested, if you can deliver to a depot and/or pick it up from a depot, you save money.

E-Go is the go. I have shipped stuff to WA, SA and within NSW and never had issues. As Mark said, go depot to depot, makes it heaps cheaper!

I have used both E go and smartsend with no problems - both good. Don't use toll. They lost a sail last Christmas and are almost impossible to get any customer service out of them-hours hanging on the phone just to talk them And no email contact. Some Victorian transport worker is sailing around using a nice gastra pilot 7m.

One of the things I did with e-go when I have used them was to insure the package. I figure than a courier company is going to be a bit more careful if they have to pay out $1000 if they lose something. I haven't had any problems with them, but I wasn't prepared to lose 3 sails for the sake of no insurance.

The only problems I have had with them was when the guy sending the package didn't label it correctly, but even then, they were good and were able to send me photos of what the package looked like to see if it was mine.
