If it's a SPOT tracker ring SPOT support on 0424 21 7768 and tell them you found a tracker. They'll tell you how to find the serial number and they will locate the owner.

You should be able to do the same with a Garmin InReach

Phone: 1 800 235 822
Email: au.service@garmin.com

If you want to play with it, if it's a SPOT tracker, turn it on, take it outside, wait until the GPS light goes green.

Press and hold the tracking button (footprint symbol). That turns on tracking and the owner can see it on a map if they're looking for it.

Press and hold the "Ok" button for about three seconds. It will send a message to whoever the owner has configured it to. Wait until the message sent light goes green. That will send a message to whoever the owner has configured. Usually whoever cares about wherever they are. They can look at a map and see where it is.

You can do similar things with an InReach. Turn it on and look at the menus for contacts and messages and tracking and stuff.
