if they can bring back indoor windsurfing, please bring back this.

many of the tricks needed back then are probably now considered meat-and-potatoes moves among many of the younger generation, so there should be a lot of sailors who could participate

I love this stuff. I reckon it's the most exciting form of windsurfing to watch live / televised live. I'm surprised it's kind of vanished.

It got replaced with slalom 42 in the pwa after they decided people were ready for slalom again. I personally thought super X was great to watch! Gave us some great boards too like the hawk, rocket, and supercross!

I always thought Super-X was going to be a winner

I think it went away as it was too dangerous - and pro with broken body due to somebody else's crash means no money for him but not his fault.
Dunno, just my theory

Best thing was forwards with no backing off on the speed.
Just slalom with an obstacle to jump, a forward and a duck gybe would be enough. Awesome spectator sport

very cool! looks awesome when everyone was jumping over the obstacle at same time...love PV comments...bunch of slalom sailors that can't freestyle and a bunch of freestylers that cant slalom!

At the Green Island Nats on day 4 the Freestyle Guys treated everyone to a 'freestyle slalom race' , same concept, had to do a trick each leg, duck gybe a certain buoy, loop on one of the legs and if I recall correctly the last leg had to be sailed 'clew first' !! was a classic!

RPS ran one of these in Port Phillip Bay in Elwood - I still remember crapping myself trying to get my fin over the jump. was heaps of fun, everyone seemed to be able to deal with the obstacles and somehow I don't think anyone got hurt. should see if we can get it going again... although I don't know how the liability insurance would go

Think you nailed it SHQ with the liability issues !! :( any sanctioned event that has any form of risk associated is just getting too hard to deal with... better to just organise as a loosely involved turn up race and go home with no one responsible other than the participants....oh just like the good old days when Insurance was reserved for cars and houses.
