Out of 4 Ezzy infinitys I find that the 6 meter is the pick of the bunch.Has anyone found that every sail make has an exceptional sail in its range or is this just because the 6 meter in the appropriate winds is very manageable and therefore becomes the preferred choice.Any coments as to your choices?
Normally that is the case.
One sail size is tested a lot as the conditions favour it, and other sizes are scaled up / down from that.
Further, a longer boom (relative to luff) is better in lighter winds and a shorter is better in windier conditions. There are lots of similar aspects to sail design, so you'll find (for example) that the ratio of luff to boom (chord) may change a little from bottom to top of a sail line.
The other major factor is mast length as you may have 5 sails but two masts... two or three of those sails will be ideal but the others will be a little tiny bit of a compromise.
That's why there will alsways be a sweet spot. For me in wave sails it is my 5.0.
i love my 4.2 NP combat. i really love smaller sails because it usually means that its really wild when ur using them!! and i think u feel more free using a small sail. i find it easier to do tricks and gybe with a smaller sail too.
My pryde 9.6m is excellent in 25knots cross shore waveriding. Great feel when doing 1 handed back loops too.
4.7 is my fave size. 5.2 is just that bit heavier in the hands and in 4.2 weather everything is just that little bit quicker. 4.7, 25kts...perfect :D
Definately my 5.0m Sailworks Revolution on my 83 Newwave in 20+ knots side shore, ahh the memories, my nipples are going hard just thinkin about the joy..
07 - 4.7 poison and the Evo 92 - steady wind luv it
07 - 6.4 severne S2 and 112 skate - light wind and small wave fun
