Hey guys,
hope it's OK to post it here, you are welcome to check our digital windsurf magazine
at www.worldofwindsurf.com
edition16.worldofwindsurf.com/
I am a bit hmm yeah nah/....
yes and no....
It is brilliant, very professional. Easy to read online, some mags need you to scroll up and down and sideways 4 times just to read one page. This is very user friendly on PC and Chrome.
I also love that somebody is doing it, I really really lament the loss of our 3 big magazines in only a few years.
But.
Ads - OMG.
Yes I know you need to fund it, but there was 23 pages of ads before it started. I count the article "16 events you can't miss" as kinda advertising..... but even if we ignore that article , pretty much the first ONE THIRD of the magazine is ads. Not the usual 4 pages of ads, an article then another 2 ads then an article..... solid ads for pages and pages.
Next - the only reason I bought magazines back in the day was for equipment reviews and technique tips. It is nice to dream about locations, but this is ads and locations for all 43 pages, bar a few.
The reason I like equipment reviews is - even though everything is written up like it is god's gift to windsurfing - you can actually compare. For those of us who buy secondhand all the time, it was great if I wanted a 100L FSW that was the loosest one. Straight to Boards mag, they reviewed it 2 yrs ago so I look at the 2015 FSW review and see I need a BrandX in 102L. Done
If I want the most powerful wave sail made in 2011, I can find it easily.
So, this is great and I will read it and I am stoked somebody is putting in the effort - but over half advertising is excessive.
If you want to review stuff, I will put up my hand to round up testers and rate things if you can get the gear together ![]()

Got to page 31 without finding any reason to stop scrolling so gave up. Oh and it doesn't like iPads much.
I thought it was great! Best lunchtime read I have had in ages.
Easy to navigate, interesting material, very professionally presented.
The ads are the kind we like to look at - windsurfing ads!
Pros:
Slick Production
Good Stories
Great Photos
Cons:
Not sure if its a translation issue or i'm just a nazi for spelling and grammar, but i got through the first 10 or so pages and spotted quite a few spelling mistakes already.
I'll be reading more.
Keep it up.
