Thinking of heading up to coronation for a little sailing in a week or so.
My dog loves to run around on the beach and swim. Question - Are dogs allowed to run on the beach if supervised or is there a dog on leash rule (or other rule) at Coronation.

The rangers are dog-nazis at Coronations (something about protecting the penguins?? 
). Pt Moore is a better option if you don't wanna have to bail your pooch out of jail.
Last time I was at Corronation - October last year - you were allowed to have dogs, but they had to be on a leash.

If it is aggressive, huge and scary looking, loves fighting or is otherwise antisocial then please DONT let it run free at Coro's and F++K it up for everyone else who lives in the area.
Even if it is a lovely dog, and someone is terrified of dogs and whinges then just tie it up so as not to give ammo to the antidog nazis.
As has happened just about everywhere in Aus.
At various times dogs are picked up by the ranger and it is a long drive to the Chapman Valley pound to collect it (50k's each way?)
The problem with people taking dogs to beaches is dogs have to defecate. Unfortunately even if the owner is responsible and cleans up afterwards, the owner might be out and about, leaving the dog to its own devices. Thus the waste of the dog ends up in the sand where its just gross.
I love dogs, have had a couple of them but dogs and busy beaches is not a great mix. Poor doggies.
Maggy (the aggressive killer on the left) has a neat way of dodging the ranger. She decided to swim out to the line up after us. Should have seen the faces on some of the Euro guys, it's not every day you see a dog 500m off the beach body surfing!

And yes I head the advice of both MobyDisc and Shark. I was more asking the question as to whether dogs were allowed (assuming they are well supervised) or not allowed at all - a la Scarborough or Trigg beach etc.
The dog in question gets a bit jack of me sailing after a while and usually sleeps in the back seat of the car

What you need is to walk around the beach with him close to where women are sunbathing. At least one of them will take a shine to your dog and after introductions they will be happy to look after your dog for a while.

thats mostly correct as others have said except that the caretaker is an honourary ranger also, and can detain your dog for questioning. Having said that it doesnt seem common except when the troublemaking dogs are around, then everyone cops it for a while.
As said also, there are plenty of spectators on the beach just tell the nearest to tie him up if he is a pain to anyone!
The rediculous irony is that in mega crowded Europe, dogs are allowed in far more places than super-sized Aus-on trains and buses, in pubs and cafes, etc etc.

its hardly Bondi or Scarbs but most country people are dog lovers or at least likers, to a point!
Bring your friendly mutt, and he will soon find some pals, canine or humanoid!
