Thought it would be nice to share two recent deals I got on windsurfing equipment (really for foiling), given the way prices are going for windsurfing equipment. Needed a smaller rig for 20 knots and up days, am now set!
So here are my recent deals:
New Mauisails SDM 400 cm 75% carbon mast for $275 US.
New 2015 model year Aerotech Phantom 4.5 m2 sail $275 US.
$55 shipping for mast (no tax), and $19 tax for sail, store pickup.
Last year i got a new 2019 exocet cross carbon 94 for 890 euro including taxes, free shipping inside eu (germany to poland), my colleague brought it with him for 80 euro luggage cost to turkey and didnt let me pay it, that has been my best buy, and it turned out to be a fantastic board.
I purchased a bunch of gear at once from a guy that was getting out of the sport (he raced on a local lake). For $400 USD I got a mint condition Mistral Equipe II (258L), Neil Pryde Street Racer 9.0 (3-cam) and a few other things. I'm still using this gear.
The "good old days" of steep discounts from retailers seem to have past with time. Hooked on Ezzy sails for the past decade. Best deals have been directly from Ezzy. Try to support my "local shop". They couldn't come close to match Ezzy direct prices. Ezzy ships free and no sales tax. Additional savings. Have no issues with limited or no choice in color. '19 and '20 Hydra Sport models.
Side note. Windsurfed the '20 Hydra Sport 4.7M yesterday. ~20kts lulls with sustained winds upper 20's. I expected the low end grunt. Surprised at how stable the sail was in the stronger wind. So light a feel in the transitions. For foiling I really don't need this sail. Have the Ezzy Hydra Pro 4.5M, but the price was too good to pass on as a back up and maybe a replacement for my very ancient Naish 4.7M Nalu. Happy to have a duel purpose sail. Now 2nd guessing myself about the Hydra Pros.
I got a Mistral Explosion 120L and a New Malibu in good condition for 180 euro both of them.
For some is too expensive, for some is too cheap... for me is fun to rescue these old boards and make use of them

If we are talking pure pleasure per dollar spent, then best bang for buck by far for me was $100 on an old (guessing mid 2000s) 90lt Mistral synchro. It had been lying around in a garage for years, barely used, great condition. I'm still using it... Most recently last Sunday. I tell myself when it dies I'll move on to a newer board. It refuses to die.
599 AUD for a brand new windfoiling board. I guess not too many takers for a 5' long board with a medium Tuttle box, LOL. Their loss, my gain.
