Sailing on Sunday with a mate. 30 to 42 knots at my favourite reef. Aquaplaning only the fin in the water and totally on the edge. Felt a huge gust coming and hooked out and yep, catapaulted - FINALLY worked out I should LET GO of the boom and board and sail did two complete somersaults (funny word that) and I had to swim for it. And that was with a 4.2. In the end it was too windy to even waterstart and I body dragged myself in to shore. Any tips on body dragging???
Stone Age
Well you made it to shore so you did ok.If you think of it as a water start but don't get up on the board and don't pull too much power into the sail with your back hand then just steer it toward the beach tho you cant go to close to windward .
Works when there is not enough wind to water start too.
Pretty simple really![]()

Thanks Stribo, that's pretty much what I did. It was pretty crazy out there. I felt a little silly hanging on to the boom whilst I flew through the air. Body dragging was fun though, the water is pretty warm.
Would have been good to do a FASTER body drag but.
The old body drag, retro move form way back, mate busted one out a few weeks back just to impress us old school guy's, there fun until your board drops the downwind rail then your screwed.
