I brought a 2010 Fanatic Hawk 100 (freeride board) a few months ago. I fitted a 38cm freeride fin to it a few days ago. When I looked down the bottom of the board from the tail, I noticed that the fin was slightly leaning towards the starboard side. To cut a long story short, I faulted the problem to the fin box on my board. The fin box is on an angle, causing fins to lean towards the starboard side by about 5 degrees.
I was wondering what the effect of having a fin that isn't square to the bottom of the board ?. Is this anything to worry about ?
Thanks J
I've got a 2008 Hawk 93 and noticed the same thing last year when using a more upright fin, maybe the fault is in the tooling used to set the box into the board since the 100 probably evolved from the 93!
it would produce slightly different lift from one tack to the other, depends how full on you are, might not even make a big enough difference to notice
