Hi, I'm looking at selling all my kite gear and starting windsurfing. Does anyone know where I can get some lessons and / or hire gear in the Nowra / Jervis Bay area?
Thanks.
Welcome to windsurfing Mitchell!
You are lucky! One of the best locations for learning to windsurf on the East coast is at Sanctuary Point on St Georges Basin (about half an hour away from Nowra).
There is a large windsurfing community down here and the launching site is the boat ramp on Sanctuary Point Rd.
Unfortunately, there are no hire or lessons available. If you are interested though, the best thing to do is to come down and have a talk to the windsurfers down here who can help with advice and steer you in the right direction regarding gear that you will need. Definitely don't buy anything without checking first. Too many people waste their money on gear that is not beginner friendly. PM me if you need any advice.
Have a look at the thread below - these are some 12 year olds who have been learning with my son at Sanctuary Point. Apart from them, a couple of guys in their twenties have just started too.

Thanks for the info. I've seen some posts previously about SP and thought that's where I should be heading. I also hear a mention there is a shop down that way? Is there? (I just find it hard to believe SP could have more than an IGA)
Anyway, I'll drop by one afternoon in the near future for a chat. I guess a decent NE is the best time to catch most people there?
Thanks for the tip on holding off to buy gear. No arguments there. Seen enough people kiting doing the same.
I'm sure I'll see you around.
