We are a new french kitesurf/windsurf harnesses brand. We are doing a survey to know what kitesurfers really want to have and need. Our team is composed by engineers and researchers, and we want to made quality products based on scientifics studies.

If only to mention that windsurfing hooks are different for safety reasons (twisted lines) and to give that some thought.
I am noticing a few windsurfers using kite hooks and some brands not even doing a windsurf hook 
which could be a big issue

I would love to get a harness that fits me properly. I had my dakine speed seat modified and it works ok but it could be better.

haha, no I don't forgot. We prefer to stay anonymous. But anyway, it will be our first product. 
Done, one important question not asked, in my opinion, is what you'd prefer, a fixed or sliding hook.
This thread would be good for you guys to review.

+ 1 especially for women as it's hard to find windsurfing harness's that fit us- not as much choice as for the guys.
Dakine make a large selection of harnesses for females.
Two things not covered by this survey but important :
1) harness hook unhooking lines during the sailing involuntary
2) safety after catapult or crash - I suggests some sort of self release mechanism after exceeding specific moment limit - analogue to ski boots bonding which release boots after crash but still keep tight during standard sailing.
I do not expect for this two problems to be solved soon , but if any manufacturer is looking for improvements that is also potential to make a difference.
Next could be : pocket in the harness or even more pockets that allow to storage : GPS, mobile phone or spare parts/ lines
I hate to admit it Macro but I agree :-)
Sent them an email about the pockets, buckles to attach spare rope/line and quick release (not after crash, just easier to remove) + what others said above ;-)
Another thing that's important - the harness has to be easy to do up.
I have a prolimit harness (which was the only one with a good fit) but the harness bar is really hard to lock in. Sometimes it takes me a few minutes, which is frustrating when you just want to get out on the water. Some harnesses require really strong fingers, which not everyone has.
A quick release system is good too, especially on the rare occasion where you get caught under your sail while hooked in.
I need a harness hook that doesn't reattach at the very second I throw the sail around in a gybe.
You wouldn't think it was possible to throw yourself off a board on the end of a harness, but I seem to manage it on a regular basis. 
What I need is a 'smart harness'. Everything else is 'smart' these days. Where can I get a 'smart harness'.?
So the laundry list so far is:
- a small little clip which connects the bar to the support structure [ so that it can get full of sand ]
- an auto-disconnect for when you are under water with the sail above you [ which will also auto-disconnect if you happen to put too much pressure on it ]
- a comfortable form-fit [ because we all want a waist harness ]
- a fixed+sliding+roller hook that can be used for windsurfing and kitesurfing
- the hook must also decide when to "auto attach" so that it doesn't attach during gybing, or doesn't un-attach during straight line sailing... [ because I've *never* had my skis accidentally disconnect at speed ]
- as a bonus, the harness and hook are now "smart"... [ so the harness could double as a rock-climbing harness... maybe we can go sky-diving too ]
- and dont forget pockets... like the Homer Simpson car, we need "stuff" for no reason... you know because GPS's work incredibly well when they are covered by a wet material.
- I almost forgot, I want a pocket for my iPhone, so that when I land a jump and put 10x the load through the webbing, that I really enjoy having to replace the screen.
And my own:
- there has to be integrated pants/shorts, to save the kitesurfers from then having to wear something else too.
- since the hook is "smart", it should be able to figure out when I need a high-hook for wave sailing and a low-hook for speed-sailing.
^^^ ... or not.
What we want is:
- a windsurfing hook, so that we can use it for windsurfing
- a way to manually adjust the height of the hook so that it can vary according to the style of windsurfing that day
- no little push-pin clips that need rising in fresh-water after every use.
- hooks that dont rust [ and thus failing at the most inappropriate time ]
- some decent strength in the material so that the webbing doesn't tear off of the rather crappy support material, the first time it is used.
- some decent padding, so that the forces don't end up breaking/crushing your ribs.
... most of which was solved about 15 yrs ago, but alas modern harnesses have flaws in most of these.
What would be useful... how about some harness lines that:
- dont create a point-load on the boom.
- dont swing away from you as you try to hook in.
- dont wear out after half of a season
- bonus points for not destroying the boom grip.
Just one that doesn't ride up as much, so you're always tightening and pushing them down....... they all do this.... no idea how to prevent it, maybe the shape of the harness and the padding? Maybe girly hips.... maybe your mum.
