Is it irresponsible to go for a sneaky little sail this afternoon considering the lockdown? I'll wear a mask and not sail for more than an hour.

The only word we have on that, is "swimming is aloud", and exercise for an hour only. whether that includes windsurfing and if rigging derigging time is included in the hour or not is indeterminate.
My feeling is, it depends on how the cop is feeling at the time

The statements I have read say you are permitted to: "Exercise, but only within your neighbourhood for one hour per day." Some of the advice is to the effect you "..must stay within five kilometres of ... home whenever exercising." Assuming that is correct statement of the law, if your local beach or river is outside your neighbourhood then I suggest you are violating the law in windsurfing. You are being irresponsible by definition and also a violator of the law and engaging in unlawful activities. The government wants you to stay home.

Too windy to use up my full hr windfoiling at Sth beach. But in less than the hour I saw a wingdinger, a kiter, a wally and a slapper. It appears to be acceptable. Leave your mask under a towel on the beach.

Over here on Qld Sunshine Coast we sailed thru the whole lockdown. Never got hassled or questioned.
Act responsibly n it shouldn't be an issue.
After all windsurfing is kind of an isolation sport. That is IF you don't stop for beers with the crew afterwards.

Is one hour a day of exercise in your neighbourhood compulsory ?

I am not sure I could manage a whole hour of exercise every day. I'd be way too puffed out come the end of the week.

Plenty of kites and windsurfers out today at the pond, Carlisle St and shoalwater. No police on the shore waiting for them to come in.

In Christchurch NZ we all decided that I would give our sport a bad name to be out displaying us having fun whilst everyone is doing the hard yards. Only one person broke this and he was given a bit of a hard time, The Council here has do a lot to help us enjoy our sport. Dale

I thought that Oz was out of this lockdown stupidity but I guess I was wrong. I feel sailing in storms shall be banned as other people who have to stay home may not like us having fun in bad weather.

Haven't stopped sailing. During lockdown it was allowed exercise where I live.
