So do we need a new section for Wallys?
Next question, is it a subsection of windsurfing, or a stand alone sport like kiting, windsurfing, SUP etc.?

Is there an International Windsurfer Class Association, tried to google it and the Australian Windsurfer Class Association came up. Check the International Windsurfing Association and no mention of the "Windsurfer" Class association.

Is there an International body overseeing the class that has the right to award World Championship titles and how will the new LT's fit into the racing, will it be the old One Designs or the New

Is there a Notice of Race

Question was about the present situation , not ancient history.

I was wondering the same thing and did some research.
the SA WINDSURFER CLASS WEBSITE has an organizational chart with the IWA above the Australian associations. Went to the IWA website and hard to find anything on WCA but on the links page the have AUS WCA, South African WCA AND Italian WCA.

Their stated purpose is to bring together and to promote all classes. But no mention on their structure page either or news on the LT!

ive sent the secretary an email about this and hoping to learn more. They seem to be based in the UK so maybe they haven't had much involvement in windsurfer class for a long time? Now they need to get with the program and promote the brand and spirit of the WINDSURFER that started it all!

The original Windsurfer site has been shut down.
the windsurfer class link takes you to the Italian site
also Aus and South African links...

Any Windsurfer LT worlds would have to fit into the World Sailing criteria for classes that run a Worlds. These include the requirement that at least four countries, or three countries from two continents, have fleets of 30 boards or more actively racing.

Italy and Australia clearly meet the criteria, since both can get 40-80+ entries to nationals. The South African facebook page seems to indicate quite a bit of interest and some active racing so perhaps they or the Japanese could make up the third country.

I was more wondering if the Worlds this thread is about is a properly sanctioned event with World Sailing and IWA and what board would be sailed. Not that I am a stakeholder in any way just interested that's all.
